Martin Stables South in Reddick Florida has elected to offer it’s entire crop of yearlings for private sales with the help of Starquine.com in 2009. Martin Stables homebreds have proven to be successful at both the race track and the two year old in training sales in 2008. The Jockey Club ranked Martin Stables Inc. 135th of the 250 top breeders of money earners in North America for 2008. Martin Stables Inc. was also the 19th ranked Breeder of Two year olds sold in North America in 2008 as well.
Of The 33 Florida bred, New York Bred and Louisiana bred yearlings offered, 32 are sired by two stallions that stand At Martin Stables South.
SPANISH STEPS -(Unbridled - Trolley Song by Caro) The only full brother to Elite sire Unbridled’s Song. His first foals are 3 year olds in 2009 and he is ranked in the Top 20 of North American 2nd crop sires currently. His progeny have won races from 5 furlongs to a mile and an eighth on dirt, synthetic and turf at Del Mar, Hollywood Park, Santa Anita, Gulfstream Park, Calder, Tampa, Fairgrounds, Churchill Downs and Belmont Park. 2009 fee $10,000. THE DADDY - (Valid Expectations - With A Princess by With Approval) Grade 2 Super Derby winner of $515,000. The Daddy possessed “freakish” versatility. He broke his maiden in his first out at Hollywood Park going 6 furlongs in 1:09.1 and earning a 100 Beyer speed rating. 30 days and 2000 miles later, he won an 1X allowance at Saratoga by 12 lengths at 7 furlongs and earned his second straight triple digit Beyer as well. 14 days later he ran in the Grade 1 Kings Bishop vs. Champion Lost LOST IN THE FOG at Saratoga and was just a neck out of 2nd and earned his 3rd triple digit Beyer in a row. In his 4th and final out, he nearly went wire to wire to win the mile and a quarter Grade 2 Super Derby ($750,000).
